Financial IndustryThe Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is a self-regulatory organization (SRO) in the United States, which was founded below the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. It was a successor to the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD). FINRA is the biggest unit that independently regulates all financial and securities corporations which might be doing business in the United States. This means regulating roughly 5,000 brokerage firms, 173,000 branch workplaces, and 659,000 registered securities representatives. Another distinctive fact about FINRA is that it is the largest non-governmental regulator for all these financial and securities companies.
